Earth’s Best Friend started as an idea years ago to offer eco-friendly, sustainable pet clothing items - and other products - that were actually cute and fashionable. Our first jacket line is the culmination of months of research, hard work - and many trips to dog parks and doggie day cares for feedback from pups and their parents. This is the beginning of much more to come, and we welcome any and all feedback!
Our final product is manufactured by a local business in San Francisco, and we’ve done our best to insure that all the components that go into our products are sustainable and eco-friendly.
Our fabrics come from producers in Arizona and Colorado that use organic, biodegradable, and sustainable cotton and hemp to create high-quality textiles your dog will be thrilled to wear. The manufacturer of our decorative buttons is based in New York and has won awards for their technology that allows them to harvest and manufacture their products in a ecologically friendly way. We’re especially proud of our hang tags which are made with seeds embedded in the paper - when planted, they grow wildflowers!
Alexis James - Co-Founder
Alexis has had a total of four wonderful dogs come into her personal life - Bailey, Baxter, Bianca and Barkley - and has bonded with numerous other pups through stints working at a doggie day care, volunteering for the SFSPCA, and walking dogs for PAWS.
As a completely obsessed dog lover, she can’t remember being more excited about a business project than when the pieces started to come together for Earth’s Best Friend. Working with dogs and finding ways to make the Earth a better place is the best kind of hard work there is! She also loves building the business with her co-founder, best friend and college roommate, Michelle.
Michelle Jang - Co-founder
Giving her an outlet for her love for dogs, Earth’s Best Friend has taken Michelle to numerous dog parks where she can be seen running after random pups with the latest iteration of one of our jackets, in the hopes of getting the perfect fit, size and style.
She is the business brains behind the company and lends order - but also enthusiasm! - to Alexis’ creative “genius!”
Ryan Waggoner - Co-founder
Credit for the “Earth’s Best Friend” name and early-stage research goes to Ryan. As a silent partner in EBF and serial entrepreneur, he’s lent his advice, expertise and technical skills to the company as it’s taken shape under Alexis and Michelle’s partnership.
